A downloadable asset pack
YaruChipFont is a SF2 format soundfont (made with the Viena soundfont editor) with 39 chiptune instruments. These instruments are the most common ones I used in most of my chiptune soundtracks, like Gun Princess 1 and Arengius. Features mono 8-bit NES-like (Nice Eerie Sound) samples with a lot of tremolo, and a number of staccato versions (called "slapped" in the soundfont file) that are perfect for quick melodies or bouncy basslines. No chiptune drums, but hopefully those are easy to find elsewhere.
This soundfont is mostly made for private use, but I figured other people might enjoy it too. It's a bit crudely made (no sustain/fade envelopes...), and doesn't cover the entire MIDI instrument base, but it should be sufficient to plug-and-play-render MIDI files into chiptunes with SynthFont or LMMS.
The download contains two files:
- The SF2 font itself. If your DAW supports SF2 files, it should be able to load this file and give you all the instruments in one package.
- The raw WAV samples that were used to make the SF2 font instruments. This should work with any and all audio editing software. These samples all feature the instrument playing the C5 note until it naturally fades out.
License-wise, you can use the samples in songs (and other pieces of media) you sell commercially, but please don't redistribute the samples themselves publicly.
